I'm Back!

I’m back!!
I quit my job and have returned to full time homeschooling the kids.  While I’m very excited about getting back into the swing of planning and rearranging, I’m trying not to shake up things too much to give the kids time to adjust.

The kids are continuing with the same Math and Language Arts programs they were using before at least until September when I may be ready to shake things up a little bit more. ;-)
For History, we will be finishing up their study of the Revolutionary War.   They’ve been working on it for a month or so, have completed the History Pockets, and watched about half of the Liberty Kids episodes.  My plan is for tons of reading, some videos, and lots of field trips.  We live only a few hours from Philadelphia and will be taking a trip to Washington’s Crossing, Independence Hall, and the Liberty Bell just in time to swing around to the Valley Forge Battlefield Homeschool Days in May.  In the meantime, we’re going to stay closer to home and visit Washington’s Headquarters and Jockey Hollow in Morristown.  Both are part of the National Park Service and are where the Continental Army spent the extremely harsh winter of 1779-1780.r

For Science, in addition to our twice-a-month 4-H STEM club meetings, we will be doing a study of Darwin and evolution.  I want to finish up a prehistory unit in time to start Ancient History in September.
I’m hoping to begin regular updates in the next week or so, so stay tuned!
